Growing up, we had nothing — hand-me-downs, scraps from the charity store, sometimes no shoes, sometimes no lunch for school. What we did have was the beach, and anything fast enough to make you forget the rest. Subora Surf Co. was born from the grit and dreams of kids who had little more than determination.

That chase led me to BMX. I turned pro, raced internationally, and spent time living and racing in the USA. When I finally put the bike down, I picked up a camera instead — and it took me everywhere the bike never could. I've shot the Olympics, the X Games, the Gravity Games, and World Cup events, produced my own sports show for Fox Sports Australia and Fuel TV, and published four action-sport magazines on newsstands in 38 countries. My shots have run in ad campaigns and on cinema screens, across numerious  sport..

Eventually the ocean pulled me home — to Newcastle and the Central Coast, where I'm out shooting the local surf scene most weeks. Subora backs our own surf team, sponsors the Newcastle Mattara Surfing events all season, and supports local boardriders clubs. I've shot Surfest and WSL qualifying events, and been invited to seek official WSL accreditation.

These days, if I need something and it doesn't exist, I just make it myself. That's how Subora was born.
